Last Weekend in Greece

This past weekend was my last weekend in Greece, so I decided to spend it leisurely. Saturday I slept in and then went to the grocery store to get enough groceries to last the week. On my way to the grocery store, I noticed that everyone and their brother was out enjoying the nice weather. Of course the vendors and street entertainers (not to be confused with prostitutes) were also out in full force. There were guys selling Mylar balloons, a guy with a puppet Pluto "playing" the piano, two girls playing the "Beauty and the Beast" waltz on the saxophone and flute. And then there was this giant man singing and playing the accordion. Now maybe it's just me, but I think clowns and guys on stilts are the creepiest thing ever. Yet they're always the one to get in the kids' faces. I tried to get a picture of him from the front, but he kept turning away from me.

After getting my groceries, I headed down to the Plaka to enjoy getting lost in the throngs of people. After a while, I stopped at a cafe and sat outside enjoying the nice weather, drinking my overpriced hot chocolate and reading my book. I did some more walking around and then took the bus back to Kifisia and called it a day.

Sunday was my last service at Crossroads, so after church, I went back to my friend Bea's apartment where a bunch of other Filipinos came and we had dinner and then they did a Bible study in their language. When it was time for me to leave, Bea gave me a hug and a present for my mom and me. And then she cried a little, but I'm hard-hearted, so I managed to escape without tearing up. :)

It was really a calm weekend and I don't have much to say. On Friday, I head to Poland to do some sight-seeing. How was your weekend?

P.S. Thanks to all who have sent me mail whilst I've been here!! I got a web cam and a winter coat from Marian. I also got wished a Happy Halloween and a Happy Thanksgiving and let me tell you, those things make my week! My niece, Brooklyn sent me a card and some pictures for Halloween; I used them as decor for "my office." Also, thanks to Kandis, I can now enjoy turkey this Thanksgiving! And to Dan, thanks for reminding me to not work too hard. ;)

P.P.S. I have postcards to send out, I just haven't because...well I don't really have a good reason. Sorry.

  1. You need to clarify that Marian sent the webcam for ME! I am not a total loser who never emails you or sends mail..
What will your address be in Poland?
